How Our Groups Work

Guidelines

  • If you're interested in joining the support group, simply request to be added. We'll guide you through the process.

  • These support groups are free, safe spaces for those struggling/needing support along their recovery journey and also for their supporters/loved ones.

  • You don’t have to be from Houston or Texas to participate.

  • Sharing is encouraged but not required. Listening is participating.

  • While we can't guarantee confidentiality, these groups are meant to be safe spaces for all, and members should use good discretion.

  • You can choose to leave your camera on or off.

  • There's no pressure for regular attendance or timeliness. You can join the support group anytime from anywhere. People can come and go as their schedules allow. We just ask for general consideration for your peers (e.g., muting yourself when there is too much background noise, not talking over someone else, etc.)

  • Please avoid politics. Religion and spirituality are welcome as long as they pertain to one’s personal recovery and respect for others' personal beliefs.

  • We view diversity as a core value that embodies inclusiveness, mutual respect, and multiple perspectives. In this context, we are mindful of all aspects of human differences, both at the individual-level and group-level or those of discrete social categories, such as socioeconomic status, race, ethnicity, language, nationality, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, geography, disability, age, and more.
